The conning tower of the Kursk submarine, which sank in 2000, is located on the territory of the memorial.
Description:
In memory of all seafarers who died in peacetime, a memorial complex was opened in Murmansk 20 years ago. Nearby, as a reminder of one of the most horrific maritime disasters of the 21st century, there is a monument – a fragment of the Kursk submarine. In the summer of 2000, during training tests, a torpedo exploded in the launch compartment of the submarine, the boat sank and took with it the lives of 118 submariners.
