In Soviet times, there was a Novikovsky coal mine here. When the quarries were abandoned, rainwater gradually filled the voids and, mixing with the germanate sulfosalts contained in the quarries, acquired an incredibly blue color.
В советское время здесь был новиковский угольный разрез. Когда карьеры забросили, дождевая вода постепенно наполняла пустоты и, смешавшись с содержащимися в карьерах сульфосолями германатами, приобрела невероятно голубой цвет.
