Is locat­ed 30 kilo­me­ters from Chi­ta and since Sep­tem­ber 10, 2012 has been called Pal­las Moun­tain. This is the only one of the four largest water­shed points on plan­et Earth where three great rivers meet. In April 1772, the explor­er, sci­en­tist, and trav­el­er Peter Simon Pal­las arrived in Trans­baikalia. He passed through the Yablonovy Ridge and stayed in these parts until June, study­ing the life of the peo­ples liv­ing here and the nature. It was decid­ed to name the moun­tain in his hon­or, under which the Great World Divide is locat­ed, the main one for which was still the sec­ond dis­cov­ery. Geog­ra­phy teacher Timur Zhal­sarayn described the four most spe­cial water­sheds in the world. In 1977, he began to study the junc­tion of the Lena, Yeni­sei, and Amur basins and came to the con­clu­sion that such a unique sys­tem as in the Chi­ta region (until 2008, the ter­ri­to­ry of the Trans­baikal Ter­ri­to­ry includ­ed the ter­ri­to­ry of the Chi­ta region and the Agin­sky Bury­at Autonomous Okrug — author) does not exist any­where in the world. It was Timur Zhal­sarayn who cal­cu­lat­ed and indi­cat­ed the inter­sec­tion point of the basins of three huge rivers. The bard song club “Great Source” under the lead­er­ship of Kon­stan­tin Shlyamov played a huge role in pop­u­lar­iz­ing Mount Pal­las in the 2000s.
