Pinocchio first appeared in 1881 in an Italian newspaper as a serialized story, and in 1883 it was published as the book “The Adventures of Pinocchio.” The author, Carlo Lorenzini, took the pen name Collodi after the Tuscan village where he spent his childhood. The story has since become one of the most translated books in the world – available in over 300 languages.
