The Saad­abad Palace was built as the Shah’s sum­mer res­i­dence. How­ev­er, the loca­tion in the pres­ti­gious Shemi­ran dis­trict and the char­ac­ter­is­tic scope of con­struc­tion quick­ly trans­ferred it to the cat­e­go­ry of the main “Shah’s haven” dur­ing the reign of the Pahlavi dynasty.
Today, on the ter­ri­to­ry of the palace com­plex, you can see not only the rich dec­o­ra­tion of the times of the monar­chy, but also unique exhibits of cul­tur­al her­itage. After all, most of the 18 palaces of the ensem­ble have been turned into open muse­ums, includ­ing: the Muse­um of Fine Arts, the Water Muse­um, the Mil­i­tary Muse­um, the Behzad Muse­um, the Car­pet Muse­um and oth­ers.
A char­ac­ter­is­tic detail of the palace com­plex is the shah’s boots, all that remains of the stat­ue of the last shah sawn dur­ing the 1979 rev­o­lu­tion.
