Description:
Millennium Underground (Kisföldalatti vasút) is the first metro line in continental Europe and the second in the world. It was built in 1896 for the millennium anniversary of Hungary. The line was opened on May 2 by Emperor Franz Joseph. Its construction took only 21 months. In 2002, Millennium Underground and Andrássy út were recognized as a World Heritage Site.
