A three-kilo­­me­ter dune 150 meters high. It offers a beau­ti­ful view of the Ili Riv­er and the pur­ple moun­tains. In dry weath­er, the dune makes melod­ic sounds, like an organ. Accord­ing to one of the leg­ends, a shai­tan who roamed the world and plot­ted peo­ple intrigues turned into a dune. Accord­ing to anoth­er ver­sion, Genghis Khan and his asso­ciates are buried in the sands. The dune “sings” when the soul of the khan, “exhaust­ed from men­tal anguish, tells his descen­dants about his exploits.” It is note­wor­thy that the dune does not roam the plain, but stands still for mil­len­nia, despite the fluc­tu­a­tion of the sand and strong winds.
