The wet­lands in the White Nile Basin are made up of tiny islets, mean­der­ing chan­nels, lagoons, and reed and papyrus fields. Its size is vari­able and depends on the amount of pre­cip­i­ta­tion. The unique ecosys­tem includes mead­ows flood­ed by the riv­er and pas­tures with green grass, home to more than 400 species of birds and mam­mals. The best way to explore the Sudd area is by canoe.
