Rochchob — one of the last fortresses of Imam Shamil, was considered as one of the impregnable strongholds of the Imamat, since this mountain is a natural fortress surrounded by sheer cliffs. Rochchob is the pride of the people of Kilyatli, who call this mountain either an amphitheater, or a stadium, or an alternate airfield. An aerial photograph of the Rochchob Plateau resembles picturesque, breathtaking satellite images of the craters. Indeed, having risen to this plateau, it is as if you find yourself in another world, on an island of serenity, natural beauty and idyll. The terraces of the Rochchob Plateau are a monument to the original, harsh, unique culture of the Land of Mountains.
