Описание:
The main attraction of Karabudakhkent is the source of drinking spring water “Bekenez”. It is the second largest source of water in Europe. 30% of the residents of the Karabudakhkent region and partly of Kaspiysk receive water from here. Translated from the Turkic language, “Bekenez” means “ring” because of the surrounding mountainous landscape. According to the stories of the old residents of the region, the current in the spring was so strong that if an ox fell into the water, it was thrown ashore like a chip. In 1938, a building was built around the spring, which still stands today. “Bekenez” is practically a strategic object, and strangers are not allowed here, but tourists can make an exception. It is believed that the spring belongs to the Mesozoic era and its geological age is about 70–60 million years. The average volume of water output is 40,000 tons per day. The temperature of the water in the source is kept at a constant level — about 15.2 degrees.
