It stands 1846 meters above sea lev­el, on Mount Shi­mara in the Andean Range, dis­sect­ed here by the deep val­ley of the Ansalty Riv­er. The very word “khoy” real­ly means “guard”, and mod­ern guides cer­ti­fy this yurt as almost a train­ing camp for the best jig­its in the Cau­ca­sus.
