The historic mosque, built in the 17th century, retains the architecture of the Sudanese style. The complex of structures was built of mud brick, perfectly preserved even in the local rainy, humid climate. Every day the mosque is visited by tourists and locals, it was and remains the most significant building for the spiritual life of Muslims.
