Campeche is a typ­i­cal exam­ple of a har­bour town from the Span­ish colo­nial peri­od in the New World. The his­toric cen­tre has kept its out­er walls and sys­tem of for­ti­fi­ca­tions, designed to defend this Caribbean port against attacks from the sea.
