Description:
The monastery is located above a deep canyon of a mountain river, attracting with its secrets, legends and special charm. It is difficult to see it from the road, the monastery seems to be hidden in the thick of greenery, in the mountains. Today Motsameta is a beautiful monastery surrounded by bright greenery. The temple building is decorated with round turrets on which pointed domes rise. The reliquary (ark) with the relics of the holy princes is located in the main temple. A low passage was made under the shrine. They say that you need to walk around the ark through this passage three times, then illnesses will be cured and your cherished desires will come true. In 2010, a major restoration of the monastery was carried out — a good road to the temple was laid, the walls were repaired. The surrounding area has also been improved, so the area around the monastery is now cozy and well-groomed. Moreover, in 2019, the territory adjacent to the monastery was once again developed, the parking lot was increased, walking paths were installed around the monastery, and the fence and observation deck were strengthened. On the territory of the monastery there is an observation deck with a picturesque view of the gorge, a bell tower and a drinking fountain. On October 15, the temple celebrates the feast of Motsametoba — the day of remembrance of the holy martyrs David and Constantine. On this day, Orthodox people from all over Georgia come to the monastery.
