In 1991, the Spree­wald was rec­og­nized by UNESCO as a nature reserve. In Bran­den­burg, tourists can take a boat ride along the chan­nels of the Spree­wald. Pick­led cucum­bers are a spe­cial­ty of the Spree­wald.
