Description:
Off the northwest coast of Scotland is the Isle of Skye, an island dominated by the dramatically dark and jagged Cuillin mountain range. At the foot of the mountains and through the Glen Brittle Forest are the Fairy Pools that lure visitors from across the globe. As the River Brittle flows to the sea, it creates waterfalls, streamlets, and pools. The crystal blue water is so clear that moss can be seen on the rocks below. Rich ferns, heather, and lichen surround it all.
Visitors are allowed to swim in the pools, provided they can withstand the frigid Scottish waters. Interestingly, there is no confirmed origin of the mystical name for this beautiful place. One can only guess that it has to do with the magical feeling of fantasy that the pools exude.
