This is one of Mali’s most stunning natural wonders, nicknamed the “Niagara of Mali” for its power and beauty. A must-visit for waterfall enthusiasts and scenic landscape lovers.

Located on the Senegal River between the towns of Bafoulabé and Diamou, the waterfall cascades about 16 meters high and spans up to 500 meters wide. In the dry season, water flow is around 12–13 m³/s, rising to 2430 m³/s during the rainy season. The surrounding landscape features rocky cliffs and patches of greenery, contrasting with the region’s arid zones. It’s popular among tourists, photographers, and researchers.

In 2022, a 140 MW hydroelectric complex was inaugurated here. The project cost 283 billion CFA francs. The site is known as the “Niagara of Mali”.
