Stra­to­vol­cano in the east­ern part of the Kam­chat­ka Penin­su­la. Belongs to the east­ern vol­canic belt.
Locat­ed on the ter­ri­to­ry of the Kro­not­sky Nature Reserve, 28 kilo­me­ters south of Lake Kro­not­sky. It con­sists of the Kikh­piny­cha vol­cano itself and the Yel­low Hill, a dacite vol­cano with a height of 1532 meters.
Kikh­pinych con­sists of two fused stra­to­vol­ca­noes of dif­fer­ent ages: the young Savich cone, formed about 1,400 years ago, and the old­er West­ern cone, about 4,800 years old.
The height of the cones is 1552 and 1500 meters, respec­tive­ly, the diam­e­ter of the base is about 70–100 kilo­me­ters. It has a crater with a diam­e­ter of 75 meters and a depth of up to 30 meters.
The rocks are pri­mar­i­ly basalts, and less com­mon­ly, basaltic andesites. The Gey­ser­naya Riv­er flows from the west­ern slope of the vol­cano, form­ing a 200-meter-deep canyon, from the east­ern slope — the Shlakovy stream and sev­er­al name­less streams.
To the south­west of Kikh­pinych, along the Gey­ser­naya stream, the famous Val­ley of Gey­sers begins — one of the largest geyser fields in the world and the only one in Eura­sia. The Verkhniy geyser clos­est to the vol­cano is locat­ed just 1.5 kilo­me­ters from the west­ern foot.
