Dur­ing the siege of Kyiv by Batu Khan, the Mon­gols failed to destroy the Gold­en Gate and the wall around it, so the vices (bat­tery cat­a­pults) were moved to the Lyad­sky Gate, which is locat­ed in the area of ​​mod­ern Inde­pen­dence Square and have already achieved suc­cess there.
