Description:
The largest cave in Latvia. According to legend, a hermit once lived here. The cave’s shallow depth and huge entrance make it difficult to escape the wind. A unique feature of the cave are the inscriptions on the walls: some of them date back to the 17th century and are protected by the state; among the inscriptions is the coat of arms of the owners of Turaida carved in sandstone. A spring flows from the base of the cave.
