Один из первых общественных садов России. Со стороны Красной площади в саду находится Могила Неизвестного солдата с Вечным огнём Славы (Пост № 1). Ежедневно можно наблюдать смену почётного караула у Вечного огня с 08.00 до 20.00 каждый час летом и каждые полчаса зимой.
