Before the revolution, a huge military town was built in Achinsk – perhaps the largest complex of its kind in Russia, comparable only to the Karosta district in Latvian Liepaja. These are large blocks of attractive two-story brick-style houses, some of which are used for ordinary housing, while others still belong to the military school. There are no restrictions on the territory of the town, you can walk freely (if you find a road), but look under your feet – the roads are badly broken, and in some places there are pieces of concrete and reinforcement sticking out of the ground. The path to the town is not entirely obvious. It’s best to turn off Sverdlov Street in the area of the London Pub cafe, and you’ll figure out the rest.
Перед революцией в Ачинске был построен огромный военный городок – возможно, крупнейший комплекс такого рода на территории России, сравнимый разве что с районом Кароста в латвийской Лиепае. Это большие кварталы симпатичных двухэтажных домов кирпичного стиля, некоторые из которых отданы под обычное жильё, а другие до сих пор принадлежат военному училищу. Никакой режимности на территории городка нет, ходить можно свободно (если найдёте дорогу), но смотрите под ноги — дороги сильно разбиты, а из земли кое-где торчат куски бетона и арматуры. Путь в городок не совсем очевиден. Лучше всего свернуть с улицы Свердлова в районе кафе London Pub, и дальше вы уже разберётесь.
