The cave is inter­est­ing for its archae­o­log­i­cal finds. Dur­ing the exca­va­tions of the cave, more than 20 cul­tur­al lay­ers of dif­fer­ent eras were dis­cov­ered, more than 80,000 exhibits were col­lect­ed, includ­ing var­i­ous tools, weapons, jew­el­ry, and remains of ani­mals and plants. In 2008, anoth­er inter­est­ing exhib­it was found here — a pha­lanx of the lit­tle fin­ger of a girl who lived about 30–75 thou­sand years ago. DNA analy­sis led to the dis­cov­ery of anoth­er species of peo­ple, dif­fer­ent from Nean­derthals and mod­ern peo­ple, and called the Deniso­van man. At present, archae­ol­o­gists con­tin­ue to work in the cave. Excur­sions are held.

The Altai cave was known in the 19th cen­tu­ry, but stud­ies began only in 1977. Over the years of research, archae­ol­o­gists have dis­cov­ered so many arti­facts valu­able to sci­ence under­ground that the Deniso­va Cave is com­pared to the Egypt­ian pyra­mids. House­hold items, tools, dec­o­ra­tions, prim­i­tive weapons, dec­o­ra­tions and ani­mal bones are now stored in var­i­ous muse­ums in Siberia. In 2008, researchers found the remains of a man who lived in a cave 50 thou­sand years ago, iso­lat­ed DNA and rev­o­lu­tion­ized anthro­pol­o­gy. It turned out that the ancient peo­ple in Altai dif­fered in genome from Nean­derthals and mod­ern humans. Thus, based on the name of the cave, a new term appeared in arche­ol­o­gy — “Denisov man” or “Denisov­ian”.
