The win­ter­ing place of whoop­er swans, arriv­ing here in Novem­ber from the north of West­ern Siberia, from the out­skirts of Salekhard. The lake does not freeze in win­ter thanks to warm springs with a tem­per­a­ture of about +5 degrees. The near­by Kok­shi Riv­er also does not freeze, and swans can also be found on its chan­nels. In win­ter, there are about 400–500 indi­vid­u­als on the lake. In addi­tion to swans, you can also find oth­er bird species here, such as mal­lards (wild ducks). The best time for obser­va­tion is in the morn­ing, around 9–10 o’clock, when the reserve work­ers feed the birds. A spe­cial bridge has been built for obser­va­tion, for entry to which you need to pay 50 rubles per per­son. How to get there: from Biysk you need to go to the vil­lage of Sovet­skoye, where you need to turn towards the vil­lage of Urozhain­oye. After pass­ing the last hous­es in Urozhainy, turn right, after which after a short dis­tance there will be a park­ing lot, from which you need to walk about 300 meters to the lake. There is a mar­ket in the park­ing lot where you can buy sou­venirs and local prod­ucts.
