One of the largest in the world and the most extensive in the Arctic latitudes of the planet. The reserve is home to lynxes and wolves, ermines, reindeer, and polar bears. Ornithologists count 110 species of birds here. In 1995, the unique ecosystem of the Taimyr Reserve acquired the status of a biosphere reserve and was included in the global international project “Man and the Biosphere” under the auspices of UNESCO.
