Why Top:

Ancient mountain fortress.

Description:

The fortress is located on the top of a mountain range. At one time, this fortress was one of the most powerful defensive structures in the region. The first fortifications appeared here more than 1000 years ago and were erected by members of the Syuni dynasty, dating back to the 3rd century AD. e. Throughout its existence, Alinjakala was repeatedly destroyed and captured, and therefore little remained of its original appearance. The last time the fortress underwent large-scale changes was in the 18th-19th centuries, when first Persian and then Russian troops were quartered here. Since that time, in addition to the fortress walls, a number of residential buildings, hydraulic structures and ruins of the palace complex have been preserved in Alinjakal.
