Description:
Its name Altyn-Emel translates as “golden saddle”. From a distance, the park’s landscape really looks like a saddle shining in the sun. Some will be interested in the ambiguous landscape: the chalk mountains of Aktau, red, green and blue slopes are combined with sandy, gravelly and clayey desert surfaces, creating an alien atmosphere. Someone will be amazed that in this “parallel” world there is a place for thousands of species of plants and animals, many of which are listed in the Red Book or are endemic. There is also something in the park for history buffs — the ancient Saka mounds of Bes-Shatyr. During excavations, many ancient tools, armor, and gold jewelry were found in them.
The main attraction of the park is the Singing Dune. It has a crescent shape and looks incredibly beautiful. When the wind disperses the sands of the dune, it seems as if a huge organ is being played in the very heart of the desert.
