Description:
One of the best-preserved impact craters on the planet is located in the middle of the Sahara Desert. The impact crater was punched into the earth less than 100,000 years ago. The Amguid crater is about 500 meters wide and about 70 meters deep. Satellite images clearly show the white patch of flat sandy floor of the crater. The crater is almost perfectly round, with steep walls and raised rims that are capped by large sandstone blocks.
