The expo­si­tion of the Pacif­ic Aquar­i­um has about 11 thou­sand ani­mals rep­re­sent­ing more than 500 dif­fer­ent species. The aquar­i­um presents flo­ra and fau­na of south­ern Cal­i­for­nia, the north­ern and trop­i­cal Pacif­ic Ocean, those parts of the ocean where sun­light does not pen­e­trate.
A pop­u­lar exhib­it is the shark aquar­i­um — Shark Lagoon and Lori­keet For­est — rep­re­sent­ing an exhi­bi­tion of birds. Aquar­i­ums vary in size and each of the aquar­i­ums rep­re­sents an expo­si­tion vis­it­ed by a sep­a­rate region of the Pacif­ic Ocean. In the spring of 2010, the Earth-Friend­­ly Gar­den botan­i­cal gar­den was opened on the ter­ri­to­ry of the Aquar­i­um, rep­re­sent­ing a large botan­i­cal col­lec­tion of Cal­i­for­nia plants.
