Or artillery fortress, the 17th on the Rumeli Ridges in Istan­bul. The cas­tle dates back a cen­tu­ry. It is named after the Rumeli Light­house, which also gave its name to the neigh­bor­ing vil­lage. The cas­tle can be reached by land, pass­ing through the vil­lage of Rumeli in the Sariy­er dis­trict. The his­to­ry of the light­house, which gave its name to the vil­lage, goes back to very ancient times, since ancient times it is known that fires were lit at the entrance to the Bospho­rus to guide sailors.
