The Bal­ashi Gold Mill was once a gold smelt­ing busi­ness built in the year 1899. It was built by the Aru­ba Gold Con­ces­sions, but closed down in the year 1916. This was due to lack of mate­ri­als and spare parts to con­tin­ue smelt­ing these pre­cious met­als. The build­ing exist­ed through the time of the First World War and has remained intact since present day. The mate­ri­als and spare parts were most­ly from Ger­man descent. The gold min­ing fac­to­ry is one of the old­est rem­nants of the island of Aru­ba. The facil­i­ty has been pre­served on undam­aged land for years and is avail­able for every­one to par­take in.
