Bibi-Hey­­bat Mosque is a real pearl of Baku, Azer­bai­jan. This shrine is locat­ed at the entrance to the city and was restored after destruc­tion. You can look for­ward to breath­tak­ing Islam­ic archi­tec­ture, inscrip­tions and beau­ti­ful views of the Caspi­an Sea. You can also vis­it it to par­tic­i­pate in a prayer cer­e­mo­ny. Bibi-Hey­­bat was built at the end of the 20th cen­tu­ry on the site of a pre­vi­ous­ly destroyed mosque of the same name from the 13th cen­tu­ry. The orig­i­nal struc­ture exist­ed suc­cess­ful­ly for many years, being a place of pil­grim­age for believ­ers from remote regions of the Cau­ca­sus. Dur­ing this time, Bibi-Hey­­bat was repeat­ed­ly rebuilt and expand­ed, hav­ing acquired an estab­lished archi­tec­tur­al appear­ance by the 19th cen­tu­ry. With the advent of Sovi­et pow­er, a strug­gle against reli­gion began, which is why the mosque was destroyed in 1936 by a series of pow­er­ful explo­sions.
