Description:
Blagaj Tekija (also known as Blagaj Tekke) dates back nearly six centuries, and was built right on the banks of the green Buna river which makes for a stunning contrast against the building’s whitewashed walls. It is believed that the tekia in Blagaj was founded immediately after the establishment of Ottoman power in Herzegovina, that is, around 1520. It is mentioned in the travel notes of the travel writer Evliya Celebiya, who visited Blagai in 1664. Celebiya writes that the dervishes in the tekiya have friendly and scientific discussions. There are two tombs in the tekia.

Details:
Muslims pray in the tekiya, so the rules are the same as for the mosque. Shoes must be left at the entrance. Clothing must cover shoulders and knees. Women need to cover their heads. If you don’t have a headscarf with you, they will give you one at the entrance. You will also receive a piece of fabric for a makeshift skirt if your clothes are above the knee. This also applies to men.
