A large fresh thermokarst lake in the north of Yaku­tia (Ust-Yan­sky region). The lake is locat­ed in the north of the Yana-Indi­­gir­­ka Low­land on the coast of the Laptev Sea. Bus­takh has a thermokarst for­ma­tion, that is, the reser­voir appeared as a result of soil sub­si­dence due to the melt­ing of under­ground ice. These types of lakes are sen­si­tive to cli­mate change and play an impor­tant role in the car­bon cycle. Fish­ing on Lake Bus­takh is very pop­u­lar due to the incred­i­ble vari­ety of fish that live here. So, here you can catch pike, perch, char, muk­sun, grayling, peled, tugun, small­mouth smelt, etc. Fish­ing is car­ried out here both from the banks and from a boat.
