An innocu­ous lit­tle town called Melekeok, on the Isle of Babel­daob, the country’s largest island, locat­ed 20 km north­east of Koror. The city, with its 400 inhab­i­tants is the least pop­u­lous cap­i­tal of any sov­er­eign state world­wide. Melekeok, Palau’s cap­i­tal, is the home of Palau’s capi­tol build­ing, the Ngerul­mud, the admin­is­tra­tive seat of Palau. It is a most impres­sive build­ing, maybe a lit­tle too grand for such a mod­est, but love­ly town as Melekeok!
