An unof­fi­cial self-gov­­ern­ing com­mune. It is a large com­mu­ni­ty with a social­ist eco­nom­ic struc­ture, although the res­i­dents of Chris­tia­nia them­selves do not use the term “social­ism”. The ter­ri­to­ry is not actu­al­ly con­trolled by the Dan­ish author­i­ties, and the form of polit­i­cal orga­ni­za­tion of soci­ety is dif­fer­ent from the state. The res­i­dents of Chris­tia­nia pro­claim their goal to be “to cre­ate a self-gov­­ern­ing soci­ety in which each indi­vid­ual is respon­si­ble for the well-being of the entire com­mu­ni­ty.
