It refers to a nat­ur­al land­scape in Xin­jiang shaped by wind and water ero­sion, with rock for­ma­tions resem­bling cas­tles and tow­ers. The name comes from the howl­ing wind sounds that resem­ble “voic­es”. “山” means “moun­tain”. Togeth­er it can be trans­lat­ed as “Dev­il’s Moun­tain” or “moun­tain in the Dev­il’s City”, depend­ing on the con­text. A nat­ur­al attrac­tion on Mount Radan in south­ern Ser­bia, 27 km south­east of the city of Kur­sum­li­ja. The for­ma­tion con­sists of 202 stone pil­lars from 2 to 15 m high with an aver­age diam­e­ter of 1 m, on top of which there are stone blocks weigh­ing up to 100 kg.
