Description:
This museum, run by B&W, houses what was the largest diesel engine in the world for around 30 years. Nowadays it has a lot of diesel related exhibits spread over three floors, especially to do with ships – all very well presented. The volunteers are retired B&W employees and are very friendly – this traveler arrived 30 minutes before closing time and got a personal guided tour! They run the main engine every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, plus on some other occasions as advertised on their website. There’s a small gift shop where you can buy t-shirts, notebooks etc. They ask that you email ahead if you want a guided tour.
