“The Bulk Garden”. The palace of the Ottoman sultans on the European side of the Bosphorus in Istanbul on the border of the Besiktas and Kabatas districts. The construction of the modern residence was carried out in 1843-1856. The project of the complex was created by the architects Karapet and Nikogos Balyan, the interiors were decorated by a master from France. The customer of the construction was Sultan Abdulmecid I.
In addition to the palace building, the Dolmabahce ensemble includes several gardens, pavilions, and gates. At the western entrance to the territory stands the 27-meter Clock Tower, and the Dolmabahce Mosque is located nearby. In the eastern part is the Museum of Painting, its collection includes several paintings by Ivan Aivazovsky. The interiors of the palace amaze visitors with their luxurious design. At the time of construction, the palace had 285 rooms, 43 halls, and 6 bathrooms. The Dolmabahce Throne Hall is called the largest room of its kind in the world. The last six Ottoman sultans lived in Dolmabahce. The residence is also famous for the fact that Mustafa Kemal Ataturk died here on November 10, 1938. There is a memorial room for him in the palace.
