Description:
A sixteen-kilometer fjord beyond the Arctic Circle itself. The bay is located in the zone of influence of two oceans, so the area has an extremely harsh climate, and the land is covered with permafrost, which does not make it any less picturesque. There is also a port and town of the same name (founded in 1946). Today the village of Egvekinot is a ski slope, cheap, even by the standards of the mainland, cafes, crowded streets and a tidy housing stock. Population — 3000 people.
