The house was built accord­ing to the design of the archi­tect Stanislav Khomich, for his fam­i­ly to live in. The archi­tect came to Tom­sk in the 1890s, and in 1891 he became a junior archi­tect at the Tom­sk City Coun­cil. Ini­tial­ly, he designed city pris­ons. Five years lat­er, he was pro­mot­ed and tem­porar­i­ly served as the provin­cial archi­tect. In 1898, he offi­cial­ly took office. He worked as a provin­cial engi­neer and dioce­san archi­tect, and was involved in pri­vate design. The archi­tect spent 50 thou­sand rubles on the con­struc­tion of the build­ing. The land plot was giv­en to the archi­tec­t’s wife, the daugh­ter of a state coun­cilor, by her par­ents in 1903. Since the man­sion had large areas, part of the build­ing was rent­ed out as pri­vate apart­ments. In 1914, Khomich was accused of cor­rup­tion. After that, the archi­tect wrote a let­ter of res­ig­na­tion and left Tom­sk.
