Locals often call it a “ghost lake”, because every 5–6 years all the water dis­ap­pears from the lake, and then comes back. Accord­ing to leg­end, in the old days, a greedy rich man lived on its shore. Angry peas­ants drowned him, and since then his greedy spir­it from time to time drinks all the water in the lake, and then again falls into obliv­ion. Geol­o­gists also sug­gest that the water goes into karst caves under the bot­tom of the reser­voir. Ufol­o­gists have their own ver­sion, as if there is an alien base under the lake.
