The largest Taras Shevchenko museum outside of Ukraine is located in Kazakhstan on the Mangyshlak peninsula in the small town of Fort Shevchenko. The city bears the name of the famous Ukrainian poet, because it was here that he was in exile in 1850-1857. Taras Shevchenko was sent here after his arrest in Orenburg. Самый крупный музей Тараса Шевченко за пределами Украины, находится в Казахстане на полуострове Мангышлак в небольшом городе Форт-Шевченко. Город носит имя известного Украинского поэта ведь именно здесь в 1850-1857 годах он находился в ссылке. Тарас Шевченко, был отправлен сюда после ареста в Оренбурге. Целых семь лет поэту под строжайшим надзором было запрещено писать и рисовать.
