Trento DOC was formally recognised as a region for sparkling wines made using the traditional method (as employed in Champagne, as opposed to that of Prosecco) in 2007 and a key player in its bid was Ferrari Trento, where this style has been made – in exemplary form – since 1902. Established by eponymous oenologist Giulio Ferrari, the winery is set amidst the dramatic scenery of the Dolomites and seeks to convey this land with purity and quality, especially now that it can boast a series of green credentials: certified organic since 2017, Ferrari is an official Biodiversity Friend and on its way to becoming fully carbon neutral.
