Tren­to DOC was for­mal­ly recog­nised as a region for sparkling wines made using the tra­di­tion­al method (as employed in Cham­pagne, as opposed to that of Pros­ec­co) in 2007 and a key play­er in its bid was Fer­rari Tren­to, where this style has been made — in exem­plary form — since 1902. Estab­lished by epony­mous oenol­o­gist Giulio Fer­rari, the win­ery is set amidst the dra­mat­ic scenery of the Dolomites and seeks to con­vey this land with puri­ty and qual­i­ty, espe­cial­ly now that it can boast a series of green cre­den­tials: cer­ti­fied organ­ic since 2017, Fer­rari is an offi­cial Bio­di­ver­si­ty Friend and on its way to becom­ing ful­ly car­bon neu­tral.
