Description:
The oldest settlement of the Caucasus, spread out on the very top of the mountain, it is also called the local Machu Picchu. The grotesque ghost village was erected at the crossroads of the Great Silk Road to meet trade caravans, and over time fell into disrepair and the locals left it. From the top of the village you can see the mountains, rocky gorges and the nearest villages. Here you can walk along the silent medieval streets and, if you’re lucky, meet the “last inhabitant of Gamstul” Ziyavudin – he doesn’t officially live here, but comes every day from his village to restore the house in which he plans to meet and give tea to tourists.
Древнейшее поселение Кавказа, раскинувшееся на самой вершине горы, его ещё называют местным Мачу-Пикчу. Гротескный аул-призрак был возведён на перекрёстке дорог Великого шёлкового пути, чтобы встречать торговые караваны, а со временем пришёл в упадок и местные жители его покинули. С вершины аула открывается вид на горы, скалистые ущелья и ближайшие посёлки. Здесь можно пройтись по безмолвным средневековым улицам и, если повезёт, встретить «последнего жителя Гамстуля» Зиявудина — официально он здесь не живёт, но приезжает каждый день из своего села, чтобы восстанавливать домик, в котором планирует встречать и поить чаем туристов.
