Glen Canyon has had inhab­i­tants for thou­sands of years – pre­his­toric and archa­ic Native Amer­i­can cul­tures lived and roamed there. In lat­er years, the area was pop­u­lat­ed by min­ers, explor­ers, ranch­ers, all of whom have left their mark on the canyon.
The Glen Canyon Nation­al Recre­ation Area is spread over 1.25 mil­lion scenic acres and is famous for being full of geo­log­i­cal won­ders and stun­ning scenery. In the 561-foot-deep canyon, you can see Defi­ance House, which was home to pre­his­toric tribes. While at the canyon, you can also enjoy out­door activ­i­ties at Lake Pow­ell.
