Hun­dreds of camels come to the water reser­voir every day, and car­a­vans flock here to take a break from the swel­ter­ing heat in the pleas­ant cool­ness of the high rocks.
By the way, gelta is a spe­cial form of nat­ur­al reser­voirs in the Sahara, the water lev­el in which is main­tained by under­ground waters pro­trud­ing to the sur­face of the earth. So the water in d’Archey is the col­or of oil, although the name Gelta itself trans­lates as Clear Water.
Such a rare rep­tile as the Nile croc­o­dile lives here. In the past, croc­o­diles could be seen through­out North Africa, but now it is a great suc­cess. Despite their evil dis­po­si­tion, preda­tors feed on frogs and fish, of which there are quite a lot in the reser­voir. In addi­tion to the unique fau­na, tourists may also be inter­est­ed in rock paint­ings dat­ing back to the Mid­dle Holocene era.
