Описание:
The central square in the heart of Seoul with a 600-year history, presented to residents and visitors of the city in a new quality — this is a square space surrounded by architectural monuments such as Gyeongbokgung Palace. In addition, the square offers an extraordinary view of Bukhansan Mountain, and the recreated historical appearance of Sejongno Road makes the square an important cultural and historical landmark. The length of Sejongno Street, stretching from Gwanghwamun Gate to the square by the Cheonggyecheon Stream, is 550 m, and the width is 34 m. Gwanghwamun Square is called the square “recreating the history of Gwanghwamun Gate”, “reviving the ancient appearance of the streets near the royal palace”, “the main square of Korea” and “the center of cultural recreation for city residents”. Gwanghwamun Square recreates the original appearance of the square in front of Gwanghwamun Gate, and the newly erected statue of King Sejong, under whose leadership the Korean alphabet was created, is surrounded by fountains that display the letters of the Korean alphabet. Between the statues of Admiral Yi Sun-sin and King Sejong is a special city square where various exhibitions and events are held in which all visitors to the square can participate. Sejong-no Street leads from the fountains and a small pond in front of the Yi Sun-sin statue to the beginning of Cheonggyecheon Stream. Gwanghwamun Square, together with Sejong-no Street, which has ten lanes of vehicular traffic, is the central city square for large events, and its width including pedestrian areas reaches 100 meters. Gwanghwamun Square has several subway exits from various stations and several pedestrian crossings, making it accessible to visitors. Total area: 19,000 sq.m. (width 34 m, length 550 m).
