One of the oldest women’s monasteries in the country was built in 1678 and is located 70 kilometers from Chisinau. According to the legends, it was founded by Mikhalcha Khynku, who hid here with his daughter during the raids of the Tatar-Mongols. The miraculously saved boyar promised the child that he would erect a monastery on this territory.
