Archi­tect Zaha Hadid first made her mark on Austria’s Inns­bruck region with the 2002 Ber­gisel ski-jump tow­er. She returned with this design for the Nord­park Cable Rail­way, a four-sta­­tion funic­u­lar line that replaced a 100-year-old tram and trans­ports pas­sen­gers up a ver­tig­i­nous incline for 1.1 miles. Each of Hadid’s sta­tions is capped with swoop­ing glass shapes that sug­gest ice floes and snow­drifts.
